A bit about the role
As part of the Community Safety team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects to support community safety needs.
With the support of your Team Leader and collaborating with key stakeholders, this will include supporting project design, implementation, and evaluation across community safety initiatives and programs.
What you’ll deliver
- Adapt and evolve Community Safety services to effectively meet the current Community Safety Strategic Service Plan and future needs of Casey’s diverse community.
- Support the Team Leader Community Safety Strategy designing and delivering projects, programs, initiatives, plans, or community safety related policies based on a formal workplan.
- Assist in unit-wide research, data collection, classification, benchmarking, and analysis to develop and prepare reports, memos, funding applications, and presentations.
- Organise and lead meetings and focus groups, working with stakeholders such as Victoria Police, Neighbourhood Watch, Crime Stoppers and other local government and service providers to identify and address community safety issues
- Engage with the community to address resident safety concerns and issues through onsite visits, inspections, and direct communication with affected parties.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships using high level written and interpersonal consultation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design auditing framework and understanding of CPTED principles preferred
- Experience working within a project workplan framework.
- Demonstrated ability to provide proactive and intuitive assistance and support during the design, implementation and evaluation of projects and initiatives.
- Ability to identify opportunities for connections and collaboration across projects and teams and initiate action.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice/Criminology, Project Management or other similar related discipline will be highly regarded.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
