Located in Doveton, the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place is a home away from home for our local Aboriginal community. A culturally safe space that provides opportunities to strengthen connection to community, culture and country, providing holistic, responsive, and culturally safe services/programs, guided by community, to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of Aboriginal People in the City of Casey.

About the Role
This role uniquely combines high level vision with practical delivery. You will contribute to strategic planning, governance development, and long term community outcomes, while also coordinating on the ground activities, events, and programs. From community drop ins to cultural programs to major events, you’ll ensure the Gathering Place remains dynamic, well managed, and deeply connected to community needs, managed, and deeply connected to community needs.
What You’ll deliver
- Lead day‑to‑day operations of the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming, culturally grounded space for community.
- Co‑design and deliver culturally informed programs with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, including leading the Koorie School Holiday Program.
- Establish and embed the Gathering Place Governance Model in partnership with community, integrating cultural values into all activities and decision‑making.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships across Council, community organisations, and service providers to strengthen program delivery and community outcomes.
- Ensure continuous improvement and cultural safety by monitoring programs, evaluating partnerships, and upholding best‑practice standards across all operations
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively across diverse cultural contexts.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in community development, social work, project management, or similar fields, supported by strong digital literacy (MS Suite).
- Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with community organisations, service providers, and internal stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
- Robust organisational and coordination skills, including managing multiple programs, priorities, and projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to cultural safety, best practice, and innovation, with the confidence to apply contemporary approaches to community programs and engagement.
- Drivers Licence
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
