About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape the strategic direction and lead delivery of an Information Management service uplift across Council.
You will be responsible for providing clear direction, governance, and strengthening organisational information management in line with legislative obligations and strategic priorities.
This will include leading a newly consolidated team spanning information governance, lifecycle management and platform support functions and collaborating with senior leaders across Council to embed strong governance, clarify accountabilities and uplift organisational Information Management maturity.
What You’ll deliver
- Provide clear strategic direction for information management across the organisation, guiding priorities, decision-making and alignment with organisational strategy
- Lead and drive the implementation of an Information Management Service uplift roadmap, ensuring initiatives are prioritised, sequenced and delivered
- Establish and maintain a clear information governance framework, including policies, standards, accountabilities and decision pathways
- Establish information management as a measurable, customer-focused service with clear performance outcomes and service expectations
- Lead and support staff through change, consolidation and role evolution, applying a considered, inclusive and psychologically safe change approach
- Establish strong partnerships with key enabling and assurance functions and leaders to build shared ownership of information and lift organisational capability
What You’ll Bring
- Significant experience in a senior information management, governance or assurance role within a complex organisation.
- Experience leading enterprise-level strategy, building and embedding information governance frameworks, standards and enterprise practices
- Strong understanding of information and records management legislative and regulatory obligations in a public sector or regulated environment (e.g. Public Records Act, privacy, FOI)
- Ability to translate complex risk and compliance issues into clear, practical advice for senior leaders
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across executive, operational and technical audiences
- Proven people leadership experience, including leading teams through change.
- Experience working with enterprise information management platforms (e.g. Technology One ECM, M365 (SharePoint, Teams)
- Tertiary qualification or experience in Information Management, Records Management, Data or Information Governance, Business, Public Administration or a related discipline.
- Post-graduate qualifications in governance, strategy, change management or a related field are advantageous.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check
