About the Role 

As Bushland Officer, you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing Casey's bushland reserves, revegetation sites and natural environments. Reporting to the Coordinator Bushland, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of operational bushland programs, supervise Council's Bushland Crew and contractors, and provide specialist advice on conservation and land management best practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate environmental professional who enjoys balancing field-based work, team leadership, contractor management and stakeholder engagement to achieve positive environmental outcomes for our growing community.

What You’ll deliver 

  • Lead and supervise Council's Bushland Crew to deliver high-quality bushland maintenance and natural resource management programs.
  • Coordinate contractors and monitor performance to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.
  • Provide conservation and land management advice to support the maintenance and enhancement of Casey's bushland reserves and natural areas.
  • Undertake site inspections, manage customer enquiries and resolve service requests relating to bushland management.
  • Support the development and delivery of annual bushland works programs, management plans and environmental initiatives.
  • Conduct quality, compliance and OH&S audits across bushland sites and contractor operations.

What You’ll Bring 

  • Tertiary qualification (AQF Level 5 or above) in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Natural Resource Management, Conservation Land Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in natural resource management, bushland maintenance or conservation land management.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and coordinate staff and work programs.
  • Experience supervising contractors and monitoring performance against agreed standards.
  • Strong understanding of OH&S and risk management principles in an operational environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence.
  • AgVet Chemical Users Certificate and First Aid Certificate are desirable.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check and Functional Assessment (Medical/physio).
