About the Role

AI is moving fast, and so are we. You'll work end-to-end, from exploring business opportunities and engaging stakeholders through to solution design, implementation, adoption and continuous improvement, ensuring technology delivers tangible and lasting value. It's an opportunity to help shape how one of Victoria’s largest councils responsibly adopts AI and automation to create better outcomes for our workforce, our services and our community.

As an Applied AI & Automation Specialist, you'll work across Casey's AI & Automation Program, partnering with stakeholders from across the organisation to identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges and deliver practical solutions that create measurable value.

You'll operate at the intersection of people, process and technology. One day you might be facilitating discussions to understand a service challenge; the next you could be designing an automation solution, helping establish governance practices or supporting the adoption of new ways of working. You'll play a key role in helping Casey deliver the next stage of its AI journey by balancing innovation with governance, strategic objectives with practical outcomes, and business needs with long-term organisational capability.

What You’ll deliver

• Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI and automation can improve services, productivity and customer outcomes.
• Translate business challenges into practical, scalable and sustainable solutions.
• Design, implement and support AI and automation solutions that deliver measurable value.
• Contribute to governance frameworks, reusable solution patterns, standards and best practices that support responsible adoption across Council.
• Work collaboratively across technology, business and project teams to deliver outcomes that align with organisational priorities.
• Support capability uplift by sharing knowledge, building confidence and helping people embrace new technologies and ways of working.
• Contribute to the ongoing growth and maturity of Casey's AI & Automation capability.

What You’ll Bring

You have a proven ability to deliver meaningful outcomes through technology. You use your strong stakeholder engagement, curiosity and problem-solving skills to navigate complexity, build alignment and turn ideas into practical solutions that create lasting value. You will have:

• Experience working with technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Azure AI Services, AI Foundry or similar platforms will be highly regarded.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
•  
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a genuine ability to build trust, influence outcomes and bring people on the journey.
• Emotional intelligence and the confidence to navigate diverse perspectives, challenging conversations and competing priorities.
• Experience translating business requirements into practical solutions that deliver real organisational value.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A naturally curious mindset and a passion for continuous improvement, innovation and learning.
• Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in an evolving environment where priorities may shift.
• Willingness to undergo a National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check.
