Salary range $135,459 – $157,027 plus super

About the role: 

To put it simply… you will use your technical experience to contribute to delivering our Major Works refurbishment program. This will involve supporting the design and delivery of replacements of hydropower assets that have been operating for over 100 years! 

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be… 

✓ Supporting the modernising of our iconic hydro power infrastructure by delivering smart, future-proof engineering solutions that drive performance and reliability.

✓ Solving complex and unique electrical challenges and providing expert advice to ensure projects meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

✓ Shaping the design and delivery of projects where no two days are the same, you will balance risk, performance, and long-term value for Tasmania’s energy future.

✓ Sharing what you know and supporting a team of future engineers, including junior engineers and graduates to grow a strong, capable group of engineers.

✓ Collaborating with technical experts to ensure our refurbished assets integrate seamlessly back into operation.

Who are you? 

You’re an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in working with large industrial equipment, ideally in power generation or a production environment, you have a strong understanding of electrical design principles, processes and relevant standards.

With solid expertise in electrical/process control systems and circuitry, together with a working knowledge of major electrical plant, including generators, high voltage switchgear and transformers, you’re often the go-to person for reviewing and advising on key engineering documents, whether it’s concept reports, detailed designs, or project proposals.

In addition to your technical strengths, you lead by example, offering guidance, supporting team development, and mentoring of junior engineers. You’re comfortable tackling complex and sometimes ambiguous problems, and you’ve consistently delivered solid, practical outcomes.

As this role will involves time on-site at times, you’re willing to travel to support project need and hold a valid driver’s licence.
