About the role
As the SAP Operations Lead, you will lead the operational performance, governance and continuous improvement of Hydro Tasmania's SAP environment. Reporting to the IT Applications Manager, you'll provide technical leadership across whole business and IT stakeholders, lead a specialist SAP team, and manage strategic vendor partnerships to deliver reliable, secure and high-performing SAP services.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll focus on building team capability, coaching and mentoring SAP specialists, and creating a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement. Using your technical credibility and strong stakeholder engagement skills, you'll translate complex technical issues into business outcomes, lead operational excellence across SAP services, and identify opportunities to optimise and expand the value SAP delivers across Hydro Tasmania.
Salary from $158,571 plus super

Key responsibilities
• Lead the operational performance, governance and continuous improvement of Hydro Tasmania's SAP environment, ensuring secure, reliable and high-performing services.
• Coach, mentor and develop a high-performing SAP Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
• Build trusted relationships with business leaders, executives and technical stakeholders, translating complex technical issues into clear business outcomes.
• Drive operational excellence across incident, problem and change management, while overseeing SAP upgrades, resilience, compliance and risk management.
• Manage strategic vendor partnerships and influence SAP roadmap, investment and optimisation initiatives to maximise business value and service outcomes.

Skills & experience
• Tertiary qualification in IT or a related discipline preferred, with ITIL certification and SAP Basis, integration or cloud experience advantageous.
• Significant experience leading SAP operations in complex enterprise environments, balancing business priorities, risk and technical stability.
• Demonstrated success leading teams and fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and commercial acumen, with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
• Demonstrated success managing vendors and service providers to deliver operational and business outcomes within IT service environments.

You'll lead a specialist SAP Operations team within IT Operations, partnering closely with Applications, Infrastructure, Cyber Security and business leaders across the Hydro Tasmania Group. The team is responsible for maintaining a stable, secure and high-performing SAP platform while identifying opportunities to improve business outcomes through innovation and technology.
