About the role

Reporting to the Head of Workplace Health and Safety, you will provide specialist leadership across WHS governance, assurance and management systems. You will connect regulatory requirements, strategic and operational insights to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement. Working collaboratively across the business, and with regulators and industry peers, you will help clarify priorities, identify opportunities for improvement and keep our approach focussed on the risks that matter most.

Base salary from $158,571 plus super

• Lead WHS governance and management-system arrangements

• Provide clear, practical advice to senior and executive leaders

• Maintain legislative, regulatory and management-system alignment

• Influence sustainable safety and wellbeing improvements

• Help leaders and teams understand their WHS accountabilities

Skills & experience

• Significant experience in WHS leadership, governance, assurance and management systems
• Sound judgement navigating ambiguity and competing priorities
• Strong and effective communication skills including abilities providing clear and practical advice when there isn’t a clear path forward  
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience advising and influencing senior and executive leaders
• Experience interpreting legal, regulatory and assurance requirements into practical solutions
• High emotional intelligence including confidence to respectfully challenge assumptions and raise difficult issues  
• Demonstrated capabilities in auditing, data interpretation, critical-risk verification and reporting
• Strategic and systems thinking supported by a grounded approach to implementation
