John Therry Catholic College is a Catholic co-educational school situated in Rosemeadow in the city of Campbelltown and part of the Diocese of Wollongong. Established by the Marist Brothers the College maintains a strong Marist charism, tradition and affiliation with Marist Ministries. The College provides a wide curriculum to approximately 1006 students as we strive for academic success while offering many sporting, cultural and extracurricular opportunities. Our motto, Recta Sapere – (to know what is right) is lived throughout the College as we develop young people who will make a positive contribution to our community and continue to make a difference in an ever-changing world.
A permanent full time position commencing 18 November 2024 (or 31 January 2025).
The role of Middle Leader 2 exists to support the Principal and the school leadership team in implementing the vision and mission of the school, to support student wellbeing, growth in faith and improvement in learning. The Diverse Learning Coordinator 7-12 (2-point) at John Therry Catholic College, Rosemeadow will work with all staff to cater for the learning and development needs of students in regular and specialist classes at the College.
The scope of this leadership role requires the applicant to:
- Understand and implement School and System policies and procedures, The Disability Standards for Education 2005 aligned to The Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
- Lead, mentor and work collaboratively with staff to build the capabilities of all staff to develop an inclusive and supportive culture to meet the diverse needs of students, across mainstream and specialist settings through:
- overseeing learning support staffing, structures and processes to best meet student needs
- supporting quality differentiated teaching practice across the college
- monitoring and reviewing adjustments to cater for diverse needs
- overseeing the provision of small group and targeted individual interventions within and outside the regular class
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
The preferred applicant demonstrates the following criteria:
- A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
- A commitment to academic excellence and a sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to pedagogy including the nature of assessment and differentiated learning and appropriate adjustments for students with disability.
- The demonstrated ability to build a positive learning culture of shared responsibility for quality teaching and student learning growth, informed by data.
- The demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and work collaboratively with staff.
- The ability to lead learning and foster innovation and creativity in a collaborative environment.
- A working knowledge and understanding of all Stages of Learning (4-6).
- A comprehensive understanding of NESA requirements and a proven ability to implement effective teaching programs.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
- Experience working in conjunction with the broader school community and external support personnel to enhance student outcomes and well-being.
- Experience in a KLA Coorindator or similar level position previously.
GENERAL CAPABILITIES applicable to the role:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment including members of the School Improvement Services Specialist Support Team.
- Strong organisational skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Level D Accreditation in accordance with ‘Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong’ policy.
- NESA Accreditation at Proficient Teacher level or above.
- Post graduate qualifications and/or experience in Special Education, or the willingness to undertake relevant study
WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE
This role is classified as child related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.
