The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this 3 year full time position of Education Officer, Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing (ILW): Respectful Relationships. The opportunity for a secondment of a suitable candidate currently employed with the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) is available.

The role will include the coordination of the Respectful Relationships, Child Safety and Human Sexuality Education (RRCSHSE) Framework across the Diocese. This entails the ongoing development and implementation of resources, whilst working in close collaboration with Catholic Education Office service areas to support schools at their point of readiness for the implementation of the RRCSHSE Framework. The role also requires supporting the coaching of school teams in the implementation of a Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L) approach. This work would build from the applicant’s strong foundation in understanding the ethos of a Catholic School. 

The successful applicant will work closely with members of the ILW, and Catholic Life, Education and Mission (CLEM) service areas and others in developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating professional learning formation and growth experiences for school staff, parents/carers and others. They will also work in partnership with the Learning (K-12) Team in embedding the framework into the K-12 curriculum .

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of a Catholic school within the broader evangelising mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Has highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills with a particular capacity to inspire staff, build teacher collective efficacy and bring about change that is inspired by the CEDoW strategic goals.
  • Capacity to design and deliver quality professional learning experiences to school and system staff, parents and students.
  • An understanding of the principles of a PB4L approach and the link to wellbeing and learning.
  • An understanding of NESA requirements and a proven ability to implement effective teaching programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work in alignment with the Continuous Catholic School Improvement Framework.
  • Capacity to  engage with an inquiry mindset and professionally partner with colleagues, parents and the wider school community.

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Experience as a middle leader or above in a school setting.
  • Experience in implementing the principles of a PB4L approach, and/or similar behavioural / wellbeing  frameworks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Life to Full Framework for Respectful Relationships, Child Safety and Human Sexuality in a Catholic Context and the associated Model for Growth.
  • Experience within an educational setting in delivering PDHPE syllabus.
  • Accredited to Level D in accordance with the To Work, Teach and Lead Policy.

  • Competent Information and Communication Technology skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accredited with NESA to teach in NSW
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience.
  • Accredited to Level C in accordance with the To Work, Teach and Lead Policy, or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment within CEDoW.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE

This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment at CEDoW.
