The Director of Schools, Diocese of Wollongong, invites expressions of interest from experienced professionals for a temporary secondment opportunity to the position of Professional Officer: Talent Pathways Officer. The position will provide coverage due to the incumbent taking a period of leave and will commence on 28 April 2025, and continue until 18 July 2025 (for the duration of Term 2).

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a role within the Catholic Education Office that forms part of the People and Culture Service Team’s delivery of the workforce strategy. This role is designed to provide a systemic approach to attract, develop and retain Pre-service Teachers (PSTs) and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in CEDoW schools through the development of partnerships with Tertiary Education Instituions, and the management of scholarships programs, initial teacher education PEX (prac) placements and other pathways to employment.

Specifically, the role will:

  • Manage the CEDoW teaching scholarship programs to ensure scholarship recipients are supported through the course of their employment and tertiary education. This includes proactively engaging with scholarship recipients via a range of methods and responding to their needs.

  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with tertiary education institutions through a range of outreach, marketing and other engagement opportunities.

  • Facilitating PEX (Student Teacher Practical Placements) between tertiary education institutions and CEDoW schools.

  • Representing CEDoW at expos, conferences, and education related events in the course of delivering this work.

  • Planning and delivering key events including the annual scholarship student retreat.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

To achieve success in the role, the successful candidate will be someone with:

  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of teachers within a Catholic system of schools

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary initial education programs offered throughout the various tertiary institutions to ensure that accurate information and advice is disseminated to students 

  • Demonstrated ability to support Early Career Teachers and Pre-Service Teachers in the early stages of their career, including the balancing of study and work

  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trust and rapport quickly with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

  • Strong time management skills and demonstrated experience working with high volume recruitment

  • A demonstrated understanding of Employee Value Proposition

  • High-Level communication, presentation and negotiation skills (written and verbal)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-Secondary Qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. Education, Teaching, or Business)

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE

This role is classified as child related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.
