St John the Evangelist Catholic High School, Nowra is a co-educational Catholic high school. Recognised as a centre of excellence in learning and pastoral care, St John’s has a strong focus on student growth in learning and building peaceful just relationships. The school draws students from Berry in the north to as far south as Ulladulla. With a student population of approximately 935 students, the school is located just one hour drive south of Wollongong.

A permanent full time position commencing 27 January 2026. 

The role of Middle Leader exists to support the principal in implementing the vision and mission of the school, to support growth in faith and improvement in learning for students and assist the school leadership team in the conduct and organisation of the school.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

The preferred applicant demonstrates the following criteria:

  • Has a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and a sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to pedagogy including the nature of assessment and differentiated learning.
  • Builds a learning culture of shared responsibility for quality teaching and student learning growth, informed by data.
  • Displays an ability to lead learning and foster innovation and creativity in a collaborative environment.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of NESA requirements and a proven ability to implement effective teaching programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of requirements of all courses within the relevant KLA.

The following GENERAL CAPABILITIES are applicable to the role:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Appropriate qualifications for teaching courses in the relevant subject area.
  • Level C Accreditation aligned  in accordance with to ‘Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong’  policy or a commitment to gain within the first contractual period.
  • NESA Accreditation at Proficient Teacher level or above.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE

This role is classified as a child related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.
