THE OPPORTUNITY
The Executive Director of Schools invites applications for this full time or part time position of Acting Teacher Accreditation Officer, which operates as part of the People and Culture team supporting the 38 systemic Catholic schools in the Diocese of Wollongong. This appointment will conclude in July 2026.
Reporting to the Team Leader of Leadership and Professional Growth, you will be responsible for providing the management of NESA Teacher Accreditation processes and requirements for compliance. A key aim is to support the implementation of the CEDoW Teacher Accreditation Policy, Procedures and Programs. while building leadership capacity across our schools.
YOUR IMPACT
You will be responsible for:
- Display and promote Catholic values through welcoming, cooperative, and accessible service delivery to schools, teachers, and diocesan stakeholders.
- Contribute to the evangelising mission of the Church by supporting the formation and development of teachers as leaders in Catholic education.
- Design, develop, and deliver formation programs and leadership courses for teachers aspiring to advance their professional practice and pursue leadership roles.
- Provide targeted professional learning to school-based supervisors to strengthen their capacity in supporting and recommending teachers for Proficient accreditation.
- Provide oversight and review of applications for Proficient teachers, offering expert advice to Principals
- Provide advice to recruitment regarding the appointment of preservice and conditionally accredited Early Career Teachers (ECT)
- Support the classification and credentialing of new employees in line with NESA policy and guidelines, monitor NESA WWCC suspension by supporting and collaborating with the various People and Culture teams and other CEDoW service areas.
- Activity promote HALT accreditation pathways across the Diocese by promoting opportunities, providing targeted support to candidates, and celebrating teacher achievement at Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher levels
SELECTION CRITERIA
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and the ability to model Catholic values in professional practice
- Current NSW teacher accreditation at Proficient level or above (HALT accreditation highly regarded)
- Comprehensive knowledge of NESA teacher accreditation policies, procedures, and Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- Proven experience in supporting teacher professional learning and development
- Experience in designing and delivering professional learning for adults
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Current Working with Children Check clearance
Desirable
- Experience as an Accreditation Authority or with teacher accreditation processes
- Knowledge of HALT accreditation processes and requirements
- Experience working in Catholic education
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters of Educational Leadership (or relevant post-graduate qualification).
- LEVEL D accreditation in accordance with Work Teach Lead Policy.
- Extensive experience in a teaching role
- Experience in a Middle Leader role
