THE OPPORTUNITY 

The Executive Director of Schools invites applicants from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this permanent part time (0.6 FTE) position of Finance Officer - Assets. 

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this position exists to provide fiscal oversight and accountability of the Capital Assets within the Schools and the Catholic Education Office, Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW). You will work closely with our Enterprise Software, Technology One in the recording of acquisitions and disposals of assets, including regular reconciliation of the Schools and the System Asset Registers.

YOUR IMPACT

You will be responsible for: 

  • Modeling Catholic values in everyday interactions between school staff and other agencies 
  • Effective management of all Asset Registers including the accurate recording of all purchases, disposals, and related journals within the TechOne enterprise software
  • End of month reconciliations of depreciation schedules against the general ledger and related reporting
  • Coordinate the sale of end of life assets and annual stocktake of all assets
  • Monitor asset purchases against budget and journal reimbursements
  • Coordinate documentation for capital government grant acquittals
  • Assist with bi-annual Census process relating to student enrollment data and school staffing

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Currently undertaking Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent or;
  • Completed Cert IV in Business or; 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in a finance or accounting environment.
  • Ability to interpret financial data, problem solve and be solution focused with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the MS Office and Google suite of applications, including intermediate Excel skills
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment within a broader team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
