THE OPPORTUNITY
The Executive Director of Schools invites applicants from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this permanent full-time position of Senior School Technology Officer at John Therry Catholic College.
Reporting to the Team Leader–Secondary School Support and Integration, this position exists to support the administration, development and provision of maintenance and service improvements of the computer systems and ICLT within a secondary school and primary schools as specified. The Senior School Technology Officer and the school ICLT team provide the first contact point between schools and Catholic Education Office (CEO) staff and the ICLT required to operate the organisation.
YOUR IMPACT
Your role will require you to:
- Model Catholic values and demonstrate a dedicated commitment to the evangelising mission of Catholic Education in all professional interactions
- Prepare and implement three-year ICLT plans that align school priorities with the broader CEDoW strategic vision and school improvement goals
- Oversight of all technical systems, including LAN/wireless networks, server security, telephony, AV installations, and physical security systems
- Ensure high-level system uptime through 24/7 monitoring, regular backups, and necessary after-hours maintenance of networks and business applications
- Develop and manage annual ICLT budgets, negotiate with third-party vendors for licensing, and create functional specifications for hardware and software purchases
- Lead 1st and 2nd level Help Desk services, troubleshooting issues for staff and students across platforms like Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and formal training to school-based ICLT support staff and general faculty to improve technology adoption
- Analyse network and security trends to provide data-driven recommendations to leadership while researching EdTech innovations for future implementation
SELECTION CRITERIA
- A Bachelor of Applied Science (Computing) / TAFE Diploma Computer Science or equivalent
- 3 years’ experience working in ICLT in an educational setting or equivalent Demonstrated success in achieving efficiency gains through reform and innovation.
- Demonstrated strong strategic and business mindset
- Proven ability in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation
- A current driver's licence with ability and willingness to drive across the Diocese
- Demonstrated excellent knowledge of IT infrastructure and systems
- Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to receive feedback, reflect, learn and take appropriate action
- Proven ability to maintain professional boundaries and to self-manage emotions
Desirable
- Demonstrated an advanced understanding of Internet protocols and services.
- In-depth knowledge of structured cabling systems
- Demonstrated experience managing a network, including VLANs, wireless technologies, and TCP/IP
- Proven experience in large network environments incorporating MDM services
