THE OPPORTUNITY 

The Executive Director of Schools invites applicants from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this permanent full time position of Management Accountant. 

Reporting to the Director of Finance, Facilities and Planning, this position exists to support in the leadership and management of the System of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong by providing a range of Financial services. 

YOUR IMPACT

You will be responsible for: 

  • Modeling Catholic values in everyday interactions between school staff and other agencies 
  • Supervising the Assistant Accountant and Finance Officer- Assets roles 
  • Analysing existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation using TechnologyOne's Business Process Automation capabilities
  • Maintaining the contract management system in Technology One in accordance with Policy and Procedures 
  • Supporting the Senior Finance Manager with the annual system budget and quarterly forecast processes 
  • Supporting the preparation of annual statutory reporting and compliance  
  • Assist with reporting on capital project spend, variance analysis, and annual budgeting processes 
  • Assisting with Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) processes, including the preparation and submission of the Annual Return 
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the CEDoW Leaders, providing modeling and analysis on financial trends and budgeting

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or equivalent 
  • CPA /CA /CIMA qualified or working towards 
  • Extensive knowledge of matters relating to financial reporting and external compliance 
  • Demonstrated experience in a medium to large financial accounting environment covering external reporting, internal management reporting, budgeting 
  • Demonstrated experience in providing financial analysis support to business management 
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate divisional budgets and future year forecasts
  • Understanding of enterprise risk management and ability to identify and mitigate risks 
  • Experience in the use of ERP systems (Technology One is desirable)
  • High level attention to detail and communication skills (written and verbal)
