We currently have an opportunity available in our Safety team where you will leverage your extensive safety expertise on developing and implementing safety strategies and systems while maintaining our high standards in health, safety, and compliance.
About the Position
As a member of the Safety team, and the border People and Safety Team, the Safety Business Partner will partner with their portfolios and be at the forefront of promoting a positive safety culture and environment.
To thrive in this position you will:
- Provide quality advice and support, promoting a culture where leaders are conscious of and committed to safety systems, compliance and responsibilities
- Proactively assist in the continuous improvement of the Safety Management System
- Implementing preventive measures and safety controls
- Model and promote organisation-wide collaboration where the workforce actively engages in consultation, change management, continuous improvement, and learning
- Effectively manage incident reports and incident investigations
- Assist with legislative role vacancies and training (HSRs, Wardens, etc)
- Guide and support the effective operations of the OHS Committees
- Communicate clear information and actively participate in team meetings and discussions, openly discussing and supporting different approaches to achieve team goals
Skills and Experience
We are looking for a skilled Safety Business Partner with a passion for creating a safe and thriving workplace. The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in a similar role with a high level of technical capability and expert knowledge in OH&S legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice
- Proven track record in a Safety function in a multi-service environment, incorporating both office and field-based operation
- Able to be agile and make swift, evidence-based decisions
- A team player who demonstrates emotional intelligence, personal resilience, and tenacity
- Supportive and collaborative problem solving experience
- Understanding of safety around plant operation is highly advantageous
- Experience in the local government industry is desirable
Requirements
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence or equivalent
- Satisfactory National Police Check
