The Health Club Coordinator oversees the Health Clubs at the Monash Aquatic & Recreation Centre (MARC), Clayton Aquatics & Health Club (CAHC) and the Oakleigh Recreation Centre (ORC). Reporting to the Area Manager: Health & Wellness, this role is responsible for the recruitment, coordination and promotion of Health Club services, including Active Monash’s Member Care Pathway and an expanded Personal Training Program.
This role has a renewed strategic focus on driving revenue growth through innovative and results-driven personal training services and leading the professional development of the Health Club and Personal Training team to enhance service delivery and retention. The position also ensures effective cost management of casual wages and operational expenditure, whilst maintaining the functionality and safety of Health Club equipment, as well as ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for our patrons to “Participate Their Way”.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of general health and fitness methodologies
- Leadership and staff management skills
- Commitment to professional development through relevant professional peak bodies
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite
- Budgeting and financial management
- General sales, marketing, and customer service skills
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety issues
- Demonstrated expertise in the strategic development and growth of personal training services
- Proven success in building and mentoring high-performing personal training teams
- Business acumen and financial literacy to monitor, analyse and grow PT revenue streams
- Advanced knowledge of fitness programming, behaviour change strategies, and goal-based training
Key Responsibilities
Member Engagement Programs and Services
- Develop and implement systems that increase member engagement and retention
- Actively grow Personal Training (PT) revenue by:
- Expanding PT product offerings (e.g., semi-private PT, group PT)
- Driving KPIs around PT sales, upselling and client retention
- Working closely with Sales & Marketing to create high-impact PT campaigns
- Develop structured onboarding and retention pathways for PT clients
- Use data insights to analyse trends, performance, and opportunities for PT growth
- Ensure all PT offerings align with budget targets and revenue goals
- Maintain high customer service standards across all individualised fitness services
Requirements
Mandatory qualifications
- Degree in Sport & Exercise Science and/or Certificate IV in Fitness and proven experience and achievement in a management role within the leisure industry
- Current registration with AUSActive
- Level 2 First Aid with current CPR
- Employee Working with Children’s Check and Satisfactory National Police Check
- Experience in leading teams at multi-sites and ensuring continued commitment to high quality of customer service.
