Applications are invited from outstanding educational leaders to apply for the position of Leading Teacher! Join our passionate Student Support team, Two roles are available in Behaviour Support and one in Attendance - all working together to make a real difference for students! These positions attract a 2pt Coordinator allowance.

 

About the role:

The Student Support Directorate is seeking Leading Teachers to work in partnership with school communities to effectively implement the Positive Behaviour Support for Learning (PBS4L)  framework to promote student wellbeing and behaviour across the Diocese and to work with your Leading Counsellor colleagues to respond to complex behaviour presentations referred to the Behaviour and Specialist Programs Team. 

Leading teacher - Attendance, to work in partnership with school communities to effectively implement a multi-tiered system of support to promote student wellbeing and attendance across the Diocese.

More specifically you will:

  • Join a team of Leading teachers and Leading Counsellors who support schools within CSPD to both roll out the PBS4L framework and also support schools in providing ongoing support to students with complex behaviour presentations the Behaviour and Specialist Programs team. 

  • Support leaders and teachers to design and implement effective systems and practices that are driven by data to improve learning outcomes and enhance student engagement and wellbeing

  • Provide professional learning, coaching and evaluation to school staff and school teams and across the Diocese

  • Work as part of a Diocesan level specialist team to support the further development and implementation of PBS4L across Diocesan schools

  • Use multi-tiered systems of support to provide strategies that support the development of effective learning and behaviour interventions 

  • Undertake development and review processes that promote professional growth

  • Mentor and collaborate with teachers to enable professional learning and develop capability to execute effective learning and behaviour support interventions inclusive of tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 whole school frameworks

  • Work systematically to conduct risk assessment and management plans

  • Collaborate with school teams to promote partnerships with parents, carers and community.

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team of social workers, psychologists and experienced teachers to support our schools within CSPD.

  • Be willing to travel to schools across a our geographical area.

About you: 

To be successful you will demonstrate alignment to our purpose and values, together with: 

  • Tertiary Qualification in Education/Teaching Statements of Service

  • Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance

  • Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

  • Have secondary teaching experience (primary teaching will also be considered)

  • Appropriate demonstrated experience, with a strong knowledge base and an interest in positive support for students

  • Have an interest and demonstrated skills in working with children and young people who present complex and challenging behaviour.

  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring teachers and school teams

  • Have leadership skills that support schools in working with students who present with additional needs.
