About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Advisor to join our Employment Relations team on a permanent full-time basis. In this role you will undertake a range of diverse activities including interpretation and application of industrial instruments and government policies, recommendations on complex case matters, research on emerging case law, legislative reforms and industrial issues impacting government sector employment, grievance prevention and resolution and union consultation.
Reporting to the Employee & Industrial Relations Lead within a newly created ER/IR team, this role is key in delivering consistent, high-quality employee and industrial relations advice and services to leaders and teams, including supporting and advising the People Partnering team in crafting and implementing effective business solutions.
As the ER/IR Adviser, you will assist with industrial instrument and policy negotiation as well as playing a role in industrial stakeholder management and dispute resolution. Your work will include providing tactical and operational advice on employee and industrial relations issues and engaging with stakeholders to deliver accurate, relevant, and timely advice to support planning and decision making.
We are working on a hybrid model with the flexibility of working 50% split between our Parramatta office and working from home.
The Industrial Relations Advisor is accountable for:
Advising on and applying terms of employment in accordance with Enterprise Agreement, Awards and employment legislation
Monitoring the industrial and employment relations landscape and providing strategic advice on adherence to maintaining compliance and responding to change
Assisting the Employment Relations Manager in monitoring conditions of employment and minimising industrial disputes, including building professional relationships with unions
Maintaining Industrial Relations records and other relevant material
What you will bring;
To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate alignment to our purpose and values, together with:
a sound understanding of industrial and policy frameworks, including the application of relevant legislation and industrial relations policies
Experience in navigating complex workforce management issues
Proven experience negotiating enterprise agreements in a large and complex business environment
Experience engaging with Unions and great working knowledge of the Industrial Relations system, Acts and laws
The ability to manage parts of the Enterprise Agreement strategy development, negotiations, implementation and compliance
Attention to detail and strong planning and organisational skills
