Bring homes to life. Set the trends. Create spaces customers love.

We are currently recruiting for two Buyer roles within our Home Décor team - Top of Table and Home Textiles. These opportunities have arisen through a combination of internal promotion and continued category expansion, reflecting the strong momentum and growth ambition of the business.

We are seeking commercially astute, big-box Buyers to lead these categories - owning end-to-end accountability for building compelling, customer-led assortments and delivering sustainable commercial outcomes.

These roles sit at the forefront of high-volume trend forecasting, product development, and global sourcing. You will bring a sharp creative eye and strong commercial discipline to curate distinctive, market-leading ranges, while expertly navigating the complexities of inventory flow, margin optimisation, and large-format retail execution.

If you thrive on the scale, pace, and complexity of big-box retail, have a proven eye for hard goods or furniture, and love bringing beautiful ranges to life, this is your chance to shape the ultimate home décor adventure for millions of customers.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Iconic Australian-owned and operated retail giant.

  • Hybrid role + generous team member discounts + profit share.

  • A vibrant, high-energy team culture that embraces pace, volume, creativity, and leadership.

About Us

Spotlight Group Holdings (SRG) is Australia’s largest privately owned and operated family business, home to much-loved brands including Spotlight, Anaconda, Mountain Designs, and Harris Scarfe. As a market leader in large-format Australian retail, SRG is driven by creativity, value, and the scale to help customers create, decorate, and celebrate throughout their homes.

The Role

We are on the hunt for a commercially sharp, big-box Buyer to join our Home Décor department—managing a diverse, high-turnover portfolio including Decorator, Flooring, Storage, Greenery, Home Textiles, Kitchen & Dining.

This role puts you at the forefront of high-volume trend forecasting, product development, and complex sourcing. You will unleash your creativity to build engaging, customer-loved ranges while navigating the unique inventory logistics, space planning, and margin pressures of a large-format retail environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Big-Box Category Strategy: Creating clear, customer-focused strategies that deliver high-volume sales and profit targets across a large national store footprint.

  • Range Curation: Developing commercially balanced, trend-led ranges in furniture, hard goods, and home textiles aligned with company strategy.

  • End-to-End Lifecycle Management: Managing the full product lifecycle—from global sourcing, factory negotiation, and pricing through to large-format VM layout, ticketing, and promotional execution.

  • Data-Driven Merchandising: Using customer insights, heavy data, and market trends to build winning merchandise strategies.

  • Price Architecture: Designing and managing complex retail price architecture to ensure competitiveness in a high-volume market.

  • Trading the Department: Actively trading the department daily with your BDM and Planner to maximize sales, optimize inventory turns, and manage markdown outcomes.

  • Competitor & Market Analysis: Identifying emerging global trends, gaps, and supply chain opportunities.

  • Team Leadership: Leading, coaching, and inspiring an assistant buying team to deliver exceptional results.

About You

  • Proven Buying Experience: 5+ years of category management experience, strictly within a big-box or large-format retail environment.

  • Category Expertise: Deep product knowledge in Home Décor, Furniture, Hard Goods, or Homewares is highly regarded.

  • Commercial Acumen: Strong financial literacy, a numbers-driven mindset, and the ability to negotiate effectively with overseas and local suppliers.

  • Fast-Paced Resilience: Proven ability to manage large SKU counts and thrive under the pace and pressure of volume retail.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication skills to manage relationships from factory floors to senior executives.

What’s In It for You?

Alongside exciting career growth within the SRG family, we offer:

  • Exposure across one of Australia’s largest and fastest-growing retail groups.

  • Opportunities to work directly with senior retail leaders.

  • Clear career development, mentoring, and progression pathways.

  • A culture that truly rewards creativity, initiative, and fresh thinking.

  • Centrally located Support Group office near the South Melbourne Market.

  • Fantastic benefits including team discounts, profit share, EAP, gym discounts, flexible work, and more.
