- Hybrid role – Work Flexibility with an iconic Australian Owned Organisation
- You must be a fully qualified CA or CPA
- Complex Multi-Entity Scope: High visibility across domestic & international assets
Are you a proactive, commercially-minded accountant looking to elevate your career in a dynamic, complex corporate structure?
Spotlight Property Group (SPG) is looking for an energetic, hands-on Financial Accountant to join our close-knit Property Finance team.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this broad, high-exposure role bridges robust technical accounting with highly commercial project lifecycle development management.
Whether you are looking to make your first move out of a reputable public practice/mid-tier-chartered firm, or are an established commercial accountant seeking deeper exposure to full-lifecycle multi-entity assets, this platform will rapidly advance your technical and commercial acumen.
Why Spotlight Property Group?
Spotlight Property Group (SPG) manages Spotlight Group Holdings’ large and rapidly growing commercial portfolio of direct property holdings and leases across Australia and New Zealand.
At SPG, we foster a culture rooted in collaboration, continuous learning, and mutual growth. We offer an environment where your voice is heard, legacy processes are constructively challenged, and innovation is celebrated. This position provides unparalleled visibility across senior leadership, offering a fast-track roadmap for an ambitious professional looking to step into a definitive corporate finance career.
Key Responsibilities
This is not a monotonous, single-ledger position. You will have direct ownership spanning across several operational finance pillars:
- Financial Accounting & Statutory Reporting: Manage the full month-end close cycle, journal entries, group consolidations, elimination entries, and related-party reconciliations. Deliver comprehensive board, executive, and bank-ready documentation.
- Development Accounting & Job Costing: Partner directly with Project Management teams to oversee end-to-end project lifecycles, monitor work-in-progress (WIP), analyse budget vs. actual spend, manage purchase orders, and calculate project profitability.
- Treasury & Liquidity Management: Formulate rolling cashflow forecasts to optimize working capital, manage intercompany funding transfers, monitor commercial bank facility loan balances, track interest accruals, and ensure precise bank covenant reporting.
- Tax & Compliance: Take ownership of multi-entity BAS, GST, and Division 7A frameworks, while supporting external advisors through the annual corporate income tax and audit processes.
- Business Partnering & Automation: Serve as an internal ERP "super-user", driving process-mapping, automation initiatives, and financial literacy uplifts across operational business teams.
What You Will Bring to the Team
We are searching for an agile self-starter who pairs high attention to detail with natural commercial curiosity. Ideally, you will bring:
- Qualifications: Must be CA or CPA qualified (or actively working toward completion).
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience within complex corporate structures, multi-entity setups, or public practice. Exposure to commercial property, project trusts, or construction lifecycles is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency. Hands-on experience navigating robust ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Yardi, NetSuite, or similar large-tier environments).
- Soft Skills: The confidence and communication skills required to articulate financial data into actionable, commercial advice for non-financial stakeholders and operational managers.
What We Can Offer You
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the financial success of a dynamic retail group in a collaborative environment where you'll make a tangible impact on our business.
- Discounts across all brands, EAP, Gym Membership Discounts, Employee only sales & more
- Hybrid role with career progression, personal development and mentoring
- Exposure to key senior stakeholders and opportunities across one of Australia’s largest Private Businesses with continuing growth
- A culture that rewards initiative and creativity
