Create commercial packaging design for Spotlight private brands seen across thousands of products and homes

We’re now seeking a commercially creative Graphic Designer of Packaging to support the design and development of our private brand packaging across Spotlight
About the role
As Graphic Designer Packaging, you will support the creative design and packaging development process for Spotlight private brands, working closely with BDMs, Buyers, Design, Marketing, Merchandise teams, the Global Sourcing Office and vendors.
You will help translate packaging briefs into customer-focused, commercially effective creative outcomes that strengthen brand execution, improve consistency and support business performance.
From concept through to artwork execution, you will create and maintain packaging guidelines, support brand photography direction, review packaging layouts and ensure creative output is production-ready, accurate and aligned to approved brand standards.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, organised and commercially minded graphic designer who enjoys working collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment.
What you’ll be doing
Develop commercial packaging design across Spotlight private brands, ensuring creative output supports brand positioning, category needs and customer expectations.
Create and maintain packaging guidelines including logo usage, typography, colour, layout, photography direction and artwork application.
Support consistent brand execution across product categories, ensuring packaging is aligned to approved guidelines and commercial objectives.
Work closely with BDMs, Buyers, Design, Marketing, Merchandise, GSO and vendors to translate packaging briefs into clear, production-ready creative outcomes.
Review artwork and packaging concepts to ensure visual impact, technical accuracy, brand consistency and supplier readiness.
Support packaging photography direction across print, digital and in-store applications.
Partner with Merchandise teams and vendors to support packaging communication, artwork approvals and ongoing sign-off processes.
Actively seek feedback from Merchandise, Marketing, Stores and key stakeholders to drive packaging improvements and customer relevance.
What we’re looking for
Experienced graphic designer with strong commercial creativity and a proven background in packaging development.
Strong understanding of brand guidelines, packaging layout, artwork application and end-to-end packaging design processes.
Experience working across product or retail environments, preferably within homewares or consumer goods.
Ability to present and articulate creative ideas clearly while accepting constructive feedback and alternate perspectives.
Highly collaborative, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Well organised and detail focused, with strong time management and the ability to work to critical path deadlines.
Creative, commercial and adaptable thinker with the ability to deliver packaging solutions that support brand, customer and category needs.
Strong technical capability in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and CAD tools.
Tertiary qualifications in graphic design or a related field, with 5+ years’ relevant experience preferred.
This is a fixed term contract role for MAT leave
