We’re now seeking a commercially creative Textile Designer to develop trend-relevant prints, patterns, placements and product concepts across our Home Interiors and Sew product ranges.

About the role

As Textile Designer, you will support and influence the creative design and product development process across Merchandise teams, helping deliver commercially profitable, customer-focused ranges aligned to Spotlight’s strategic objectives.

You will translate global and local trend insight into clear print, colour, fabric and design direction, working closely with the Design Manager, BDMs, Buyers, Merchandise teams and the Global Sourcing Office..

From concept through to product execution, you will help create cohesive designs and range assortments that balance creativity, commerciality, quality, compliance and critical path delivery.

This role is ideal for a designer who is hands-on, organised, collaborative and commercially minded and perform in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop commercial textile designs including prints, placements, yardages and product concepts that support key product strategies and profitable ranges.
  • Support seasonal trend direction for Home Interiors, Fashion and Kids, translating trend forecasts into customer-relevant design outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Merchandise teams on print direction, colour, fabric techniques and range assortments aligned to the good, better, best framework.
  • Create artwork and technical files using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and CAD tools, ensuring accuracy, quality and production readiness.
  • Work with Buyers and the Global Sourcing Office to support on-time, quality, directly sourced product delivery in line with critical roadmap milestones.
  • Actively seek feedback from Design, Merchandise, Marketing and Stores to continuously improve product outcomes and customer relevance.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Experienced textile designer with strong commercial creativity, fabric knowledge and an understanding of homewares, interiors and general fashion trends.
  • Strong capability in textile yardages, print placements, colour, pattern development and fabric techniques.
  • Solid understanding of the end-to-end design and product development process within a retail or product environment.
  • Ability to present and articulate ideas, trends and design concepts clearly while accepting constructive feedback and alternate perspectives.
  • Highly collaborative, with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Creative, commercial and adaptable thinker with the ability to interpret global trends and translate them into locally relevant, customer-focused product designs.
  • Well organised and detail focused, with strong time management and the ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet critical path deadlines.
  • Tertiary qualifications in textile design or a related field, strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop capability, and +2years’ relevant experience preferred.
