About the Role
The Senior Security Services Engineer is a senior technical expert that reports into the Security Services Manager. You will be responsible for the design, end-to-end implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise security infrastructure and services. You will be touching a range of security platforms from IAM, Endpoint, Perimeter and penetration testing. Your day-to-day will have you working with Business Analyst, Engineers, Architects, Platform owners and stakeholders.
This role ensures that cybersecurity technologies are effectively deployed, integrated, and maintained to support the organisation’s risk posture, resilience objectives, and operational performance. Working closely with cyber, infrastructure, cloud, and operations teams, the Senior Engineer plays a leading role in securing critical systems, proactively identifying and addressing threats, and continuously improving the effectiveness and maturity of security services.
This role is a senior technical role and requires deep subject matter expertise, a proactive and strategic mindset, and the ability to influence the design and operation of secure systems and services across the enterprise. The Senior Security Services Engineer plays a critical role in the organisation’s cyber resilience, operational security, and strategic technology.

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Senior Security Services Engineer you will:
- Lead the engineering, integration, and lifecycle management of core security services and technologies, including PAM/IAM, SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, firewalls, email security, and cloud security platforms. This is a hands-on role with elements of design and consulting.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues and security incidents, supporting triage, response, and post-incident reviews.
- Drive the development and implementation of technical security controls across on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and risk requirements.
- Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, DevOps, and security operations teams to ensure the effective and secure deployment of new systems and services.
- Lead the automation of security processes to improve efficiency and response times using scripting, orchestration tools, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Conduct regular reviews of security technologies to ensure performance, currency, and alignment with evolving threat landscapes.
- Contribute to the evaluation and selection of new security technologies and services.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to engineers and analysts across the cyber function.
- Maintain documentation, procedures, and support materials to ensure the consistent operation and support of security platforms

- Contribute to the implementation of secure configuration standards and hardening practices across systems and networks.
- Collaborate with IT, cloud, and infrastructure teams to embed security controls into solution designs, system builds, and operational processes.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to capability uplift across the cyber function.
- Lead initiatives to evaluate and pilot emerging security technologies (e.g. AI-based analytics, cloud-native firewalls, behaviour-based anomaly detection) that elevate threat resilience and reduce operational burden—aligning with future-state architecture and capability roadmaps.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in cyber security engineering or technical security roles within large or complex organisations.
- Demonstrated experience leading implementation and management of enterprise-grade security tools across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Experience working closely with Security Operations Centres (SOC), infrastructure teams, and enterprise architects.
- Experience in project-based work and large-scale technology transitions or upgrades.
- Hands on experience in Information Security Engineering, with expertise in cryptography, security monitoring and incident response, network security, and IAM.
- Proficient in secure coding practices, embedding security controls directly into application code.
- Proven record in implementing and operationalising security policies, procedures, and controls.
- Skilled in identifying and mitigating technology-related risks in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience working with agile delivery methods.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols, system hardening, and secure architecture.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple technology domains.
- Effective communicator, able to collaborate across technical and business teams.
