Duties

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Senior Underwriter, HBCF underwriting you will:

  • Assess builder’s Eligibility and Project Applications and make eligibility decisions in accordance with the approved Eligibility Manual, ensuring compliance with icare Delegations of Authority.
  • Identify, monitor and make recommendations on key builder solvency risks to minimise the risk to the HBCF scheme.
  • Effectively deliver and communicate eligibility decisions on builder’s Eligibility Applications and Project Applications and meet Service Level Standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for builder customer, responding inquires and guiding them through the underwriting review process.
  • Develop, maintain and autonomously manage highly effective business relationships and direct engagements with builders, ensuring they understand underwriting requirements and underwriting processes.
  • Proactively communicate underwriting decisions, offer guidance on document requirements, and provide support to enhance builder compliance
  • Serve as a primary contact and respond to disputes and complaints with eligible builders to achieve outcomes that are in the best interest of the HBCF scheme.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as Compliance, Privacy, Customer Advocacy, Complaints and customer service, to ensure complaints and disputes are fully resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner
  • Respond to queries from external builders and authorised distributors (when applicable) and internal teams on builder’s Eligibility and Project Applications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in HBCF Underwriting and builder solvency risk management which is used to develop a thorough understanding of the scheme builder insolvency exposures.
  • Maintain an effective and appropriate degree of involvement in the day-to-day Underwriting activities and interaction between internal and external parties.
  • Participate in testing and validation activities of underwriting and pricing processes, tools and systems when required to streamline underwriting and ensure data accuracy and seamless workflow

 

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and equivalent experience in relevant fields of commercial credit risk analysis, combined with knowledge of either home warranty insurance, financial credit risk or the credit insurance industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years continuous & current membership accreditation as a CA, CFA and/or CPA.
  • Demonstrated experience in client relationship / account management roles, preferably within the insurance or financial services sectors.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent and relevant senior experience in credit risk analysis, insolvency reconstruction or management accounting.
