About the Role
As the Data Ops Manager , you will lead the team responsible for the ongoing operation, optimisation, and continuous improvement of icare’s modern data platform across AWS and Snowflake & BI applications. You will play a critical role in ensuring platform performance, data reliability, and operational excellence – while driving a culture of proactive improvements and automation.
You will be a key enabler of downstream functions like Insights and CX, working closely with engineering, reporting, and governance teams to ensure seamless, trusted, and scalable data delivery. The role combines strong technical depth with people leadership, platform optimisation, and cross-team influence.

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Manager, Data Operations you will:
Lead the Data Ops team to monitor, operate, and continuously enhance icare’s cloud-based data platform.
Oversee platform health, cost, security, and performance across Snowflake, AWS Glue, S3, and supporting components.
Own and manage operational support processes (L2/L3), issue resolution workflows, and incident response procedure.
Implement and refine platform monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks.
Work with key stakeholders across schemes to design and agree on key SLAs for data delivery and ensure they are delivered, tracked and communicated via weekly and monthly data operations report.
Drive a Continuous Improvement (CI) agenda, including:
Identifying and executing performance tuning opportunities (pipelines, queries, models).
Automating manual processes across monitoring, validation, and maintenance.
Leading the CI backlog and prioritising enhancement opportunities with stakeholders.
Collaborate with Data Platform Engineering to embed best practices from CI learnings into reusable pattern and platform design.
Contribute operational knowledge around the impact of change on data operations and ensure delivered risk are identified and communicated with programs
Influence and guide reporting/analytics teams (Performance Monitoring & Insights) on refresh optimisation and data model efficiency.
Support release and deployment processes in collaboration with DevOps Engineers.
Manage platform documentation, knowledge sharing, and technical uplift across the team.
Support the team’s evolution toward Agile ways of working and service line alignment.
Team Leadership
Coach and develop a high-performing team including Data Ops Analysts, Snowflake Specialists, AWS Specialists, and Ops Leads
Foster a culture of curiosity, ownership, and data reliability.
Collaborate with stakeholders across technology, transformation, reporting, CX, and governance functions.
Skills & Experience
7+ years in data operations, platform support or engineering
Proven experience leading DataOps or DevOps in cloud-based data environments
Demonstrated track record in operational support (L2/L3), platform optimisation, and incident management
Experience driving and delivering continuous improvement initiatives across data and analytics functions
Strong technical knowledge of data platforms (Snowflake, AWS or similar)
Proficiency in CI/CD, orchestration, and automation tooling
Solid understanding of performance tuning, pipeline monitoring, and query optimisation
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience in public sector, insurance, or highly regulated industries
Exposure to Agile delivery environments and service-line aligned operating models
Knowledge of observability frameworks and data quality tooling (e.g. Great Expectations, OpenLineage)
Familiarity with data governance principles and data cataloguing
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
Pre-Employment Checks
Relevant certifications (e.g. Snowflake, AWS, Dev/DataOps)
Post graduate qualifications in Data, Analytics or Technology Management
