About the role
This is an opportunity to join a major infrastructure project in Melbourne’s North-East and contribute to delivering meaningful social procurement and inclusion outcomes. You’ll be part of a supportive team working to improve opportunities for local businesses, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, and disadvantaged Victorians.
In this role, you’ll learn on the job and support key initiatives that promote inclusive employment and procurement. You’ll be guided by experienced professionals while developing your skills in stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and social impact reporting.
Other duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist in implementing and tracking social procurement initiatives, including the Local Industry Development Plan and Major Project Skills Guarantee
- Support the delivery of inclusion goals in partnership with BMD’s Indigenous Program Manager
- Help build and maintain relationships with local communities, social enterprises, subcontractors, and training providers
- Assist in coordinating cultural events and awareness activities
- Contribute to preparing reports and documentation that track performance and outcomes
- Participate in community engagement initiatives and support respectful, culturally safe practices
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who:
- Is passionate about creating positive social impact
- Has an interest in social procurement, inclusion, or community engagement
- Brings strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Is eager to learn and work as part of a collaborative team
- May have lived experience or personal connection to the communities we aim to support
- Has some exposure to working in community, construction, education, or employment sectors (desirable but not essential)
