About the role

Due to significant growth opportunities in the division, BMD Urban are in the market for an experienced Civil Estimator to prepare tenders for a range of diverse civil infrastructure projects in North and Central Queensland.

Estimating projects in,

  • Land development - Residential and Industrial Sub-divisions
  • Road infrastructure for DTMR, Local Councils across North and Central Qld, QR and Mining
  • Department of Defence Projects
  • Major Water / Sewer upgrade projects

To succeed in this role, you will need to,

  • Review, analyse and apply project plans, specifications, and scopes of work to develop accurate civil estimates for a wide range of Civil and Structural projects.
  • Prepare and send out supplier and subcontract packages and negotiate to choose the competitive supplier and subcontractor and in conformance with the project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the tender and construction team to develop right construction methodology, program, and prepare project risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare comprehensive tender submission documents with adequate writing skills.
  • First principle estimating experience and program skills.
  • Monitor and seek feedback of project costs during the bidding and construction phases, providing value engineering.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with:

  • Bachelor’s degree Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field or trade qualifications
  • 10+ years’ experience in the Civil Construction industry and field experience (desirable)
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools, ideally “Expert” software and MS Excel.
  • Proficiency in Project planning and MS Project program.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate first principles estimates and submission documents within strict deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
