Who we’re looking for:

With a strong pipeline of projects secured and upcoming, BMD has an opportunity for a Human Resources Officer to join our dynamic team in supporting the BMD Constructions team as we deliver projects across the Northern Territory. 

This role will be responsible for providing general day to day admin support for recruitment resourcing needs as well as other generalist HR administration tasks. It will support in the implementation and maintenance of effective HR initiatives and act as an intermediary between employees and payroll.

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Lead the end to end recruitment function for blue & white collar roles including but not limited to; advertising and sourcing activities, assessment of candidates, reference checks and offers of employment in your designated region.
  • Proactive recruitment including market mapping and talent pooling for future requirements.
  • Critique and assess candidate suitability in line with BMD’s values, culture and technical expectations.
  • Provide support and advice to business unit line managers regarding Talent Acquisition and general HR enquiries.
  • Other generalist HR tasks as may be assigned by the Human Resources Manager for GM – HR & IR from time to time.
  • Promote continuous engagement with partner organizations within the construction industry, such as universities and other key industry bodies
  • Assist with the delivery of employee retention and engagement initiatives
  • Coordinate professional development training requirements for all BMD staff. This includes data entry of training activities into the training database.
  • Build rapport with internal stakeholders, external consultants, government bodies and training providers.
  • Stay informed of all training related subsidies or grants that may be available to BMD.
  • Actively participate in the BMD RAP Group and provide sound HR advice within this forum.  
  • Maintain and update Indigenous Participation Strategies
  • Manage reporting requirements for BMD project sites in regard to the various state training policy requirements across each state.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft suite.
  • Preparedness to accept delegated tasks and responsibilities with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in regard to sensitive information.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a high volume, fast paced environment.
  • Capacity to plan your workload and meet required deadlines.
  • Confidence in communicating professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
