About the role

We are looking to hire a Civil Pipelines Estimator for one of our joint venture project teams based at Dingley, VIC.

BMD, as part of a joint venture partnership with Abergeldie and KBR (known as ABK) and have been appointed as one of two Integrated Capital Works Planning and Delivery Partners for South East Water’s record AUD$1.5 billion investment in major capital projects within the utility’s growth, reliability, and resource recovery portfolios.

The estimator will work closely with the pre-contracts team in evaluating and estimating civil earthworks and mechanical pipeline tenders for South East Water projects and for other exciting projects in the pipeline. To be successful in this role, you will need to;

  • Produce first principle estimates for both direct costs and site overhead costs, on tenders for the joint venture project.
  • Mentor and train Graduate Engineers to assist with estimating tasks including quantity take-offs and subcontractor quotations.
  • Review tender documents for scope of works, contract requirements and alternative design options.
  • Assess the risks and opportunities in the construction of the project; including the ability to identify a winning edge.
  • Oversee and/or prepare construction programs.

To be successful in this role, you will need;

  • Proven estimating experience in civil earthworks and mechanical pipeline projects including water renewals and sewer rehabilitations.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop the construction methodology and program.
  • Willingness to maintain/develop associations with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors within the water infrastructure space.
  • Previous experience with Pronamics Expert Estimation (Genesis) software is advantageous.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously or as part of an agile team environment.
  • Great attention to detail and clear communication
