About the Role

BMD has an opportunity for a Material Controller to join our dynamic team in supporting the BMD Constructions team delivering the Darwin Ship Lift project.  The Material Controller will be based on site and ensures integrity of materials data within Materials Management Systems from identification of requirement through to final delivery. Management of date from Engineering and Project BOM into to requisitioning systems

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Creating and management of the Purchase Requisition in SAP
  • Supporting the project team to ensure materials availability in line with Construction schedule and constructability requirements.
  • Planning and forecasting material requirements to ensure effective allocation and reporting to site teams for the delays and upcoming materials.
  • Receipting of materials into SAP in a timely manner.
  • Managing the materials control function for materials and equipment received, handled and issued through the project lay down yard and sites.
  • Inspecting and verifying materials, equipment, documentation to ensure that it complies with the project technical and commercial requirements.
  • Issuing materials and equipment to site and returns to lay down yard to ensure accuracy of system and reporting information.
  • Be the site point of contact to assist Material Manager, Logistics Manager, Procurement Manager, and Expediting Coordinator to ensure ongoing project reporting
  • Supports Engineering team for import of MTOs and BOM data and creates Engineering Requisitions in RFS.
  • Checks integrity of data in RFS for conversion to Purchase requisition.
  • Ensures accurate and timely production/release of PR’s.
  • Management of the project Commodity tree and subsequent codes.
  • Supports the project team to ensure materials are loaded into the Material management systems as a part of the requisition process.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role – preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with contemporary material management systems, preferably SAP
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works and managing supplier relationships.
  • Proven planning, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through issues with moderate complexity and guide others in the resolution of problem
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment with a proactive adaptable attitude
  • Construction White Card - Required
