Who we’re looking for:
BMD Group company, BMD Urban supports our private and government clients through the provision of civil and building works for land development and associated infrastructure. Reporting directly to the National General Manager of BMD Urban, the National HSE Manager will be work closely with the business unit’s regional leads across health, safety and environment, and partner with operational leadership to drive alignment, consistency and performance uplift across all states.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, expert advice and hands-on support to BMD Urban’s leadership team and delivery teams across a diverse range of HSE matters, ensuring we continue to deliver safe, high-quality work for our clients. Getting our people home safely to their families every day is our top priority and our objective is to improve safety performance, through increased consistency of approach, targeted resourcing and intervention, and continuing effort in fostering a generative safety culture.
You will:
Work with BMD Group stakeholders to improve the quality of reporting, data and insight so that we can better allocate resource and effort to intervention where it will have the greatest benefit.
Support BMD Group’s Safety Strategy in collaboration with the National General Manager of BMD Urban, Regional Managers and Construction Managers, with key strategic initiatives.
Support the establishment of our minimum requirements and expectations for the frontline workers in simple, easy to access and understand formats.
Assist in simplifying our safety procedures with a focus on ensuring BMD Urban achieves our minimum requirements.
Collaborate with Regional Safety Managers, Safety/Environmental Coordinators and the Safety function to drive continued improvement in the HSE systems and platforms to ensure that they are fit for purpose and drive operational efficiency.
Establish an Improvement Work Plan that clearly defines priorities, timelines and milestones, ensuring alignment with BMD’s commitment to continuous improvement and industry best practice.
Ensure that BMD Urban meets health, safety and environment legislative requirements on an ongoing basis.
The successful candidate will be skilled in building relationships and influencing with:
An appropriate tertiary qualification
Significant industry experience, with a deep understanding of industry standards and best practice.
Proven ability to lead and influence health, safety and environment to high performance outcomes, driving meaningful change and aligning regional execution with broader business objectives.
Ability to develop, articulate and operationalise strategies that align with BMD’s business objectives.
Ability to effectively communicate with executive leadership, key clients and stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
Ability to interpret complex data insights and translate them into strategic business improvements.
