About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Melbourne team, specialising in capital works and water infrastructure projects for local councils. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse community-focused projects that make a real difference in local areas.

As our Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tender submissions, working closely with our project delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes from inception to completion.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for small capital works and water infrastructure projects
  • Analyse tender documentation, specifications, and drawings to develop comprehensive pricing strategies
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate project scoping
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to inform estimation accuracy
  • Build and maintain relationships with local council procurement teams and stakeholders
  • Support the business development team in pursuing new opportunities within the local government sector
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates, materials costs, and industry trends
  • Participate in tender interviews and client presentations as required

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in estimating for civil construction projects, water industry experience preferred
  • Proven track record in successfully bidding small capital works and water infrastructure packages
  • Experience with Expert Estimation software preferred
  • First principles estimating experience essential
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for client interactions
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines
  • Knowledge of Australian construction standards, OH&S requirements, and environmental regulations
