About The Role

As the Environment Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the project meets all environmental obligations, regulatory requirements, and approval conditions. You’ll oversee environmental planning, monitoring, reporting, and engagement with regulators, the client, and stakeholders. Working closely with the Project Director and site leadership, you will provide technical advice to construction teams, mentor internal environmental staff, and play an important supporting role in the implementation of sustainability initiatives across the project.

This role is central to shaping a strong environmental culture and enabling the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of the project.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of environmental management plans, including CEMP and ESCPs.
  • Secure and manage statutory approvals, permits, licences, and associated compliance obligations.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and monitoring to ensure compliance with all regulatory and project requirements.
  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and manage environmental incident response and investigations.
  • Provide technical input to sustainability initiatives and help operational teams understand sustainability requirements.
  • Support implementation of the ISMP and contribute to sustainability reporting and KPI achievement.
  • Prepare high‑quality environmental reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver environmental training, toolbox talks, and inductions.
  • Communicate proactively with the community, regulators, and the client regarding environmental matters.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary environmental team.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and high‑performance culture.

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in environmental management within major civil or construction projects
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, best‑practice erosion and sediment control, and industry guidelines
  • Ability to build strong relationships with site teams, regulators, and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience managing environmental approvals, incidents, audits, and reporting programs

Why Join Us?

  • Lead environment and sustainability outcomes on a significant infrastructure project
  • Be part of a high‑performing team committed to innovation and continuous improvement
  • Strong opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Supportive leadership team and a culture that values integrity, safety, and environmental excellence
