About the Role

As our Environmental Coordinator, you are passionate about protecting eco-systems and implementing environmental innovation across a range of projects and sectors. As a natural relationship builder, you will influence Project Managers and external stakeholders to achieve continual environmental improvement, using your excellent communication skills and strong technical expertise to:

  • Manage environmental aspects and impacts on site in line with best practice principles, and to assist in the achievement of organisational and project objectives.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with Project Environmental Management Plans, company Environmental Policies and promote a positive sustainability and environmental culture, leading by example and setting best practice standards as ‘business as usual’.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual environmental specifications and environmental legislation, environmental approvals and other relevant stakeholder requirements of the project.

 

Your day would look like:

  • Engaging and supporting our precontracts, project teams and workforce to champion use of our systems, client requirements and industry best practice.
  • Contributing to tenders and bids giving advice on risk and compliance
  • Leading the implementation of the BMD Environmental Management System and providing high-level technical advice.
  • Visiting projects to champion implementation of our Environmental standards and procedures.
  • Facilitating and undertaking environmental monitoring
  • Undertaking audits, inspections and frontline engagements.
  • Contributing to risk workshops, communication forums and initiatives.
  • Contributing to incident investigations and reviews.
  • Keeping across industry and legislation changes and advise the business.  

 

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:

  • Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/ Engineering 
  • 4-5 years in civil construction (or related sector) in environmental management
  • Prior experience on resource sector or infrastructure projects (Transport, Water, Defence) highly regarded
  • Possess a solid understanding of the current legislative environment relevant to this role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
