About the role

As a Planner at BMD, you will play a key role across both pre‑contracts and operational delivery, supporting tender submissions and live projects with high‑quality, practical construction programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a civil engineer looking to transition off site, or for an experienced planner who has come from an engineering background and understands construction methodology and delivery risk. You will work closely with construction, estimating and project teams to shape methodologies, optimise sequencing and provide insights that support successful project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide practical programming advice to tender and project teams
  • Review tender documentation for scope, contract and timing impacts
  • Develop and optimise construction programs for tenders and projects
  • Prepare fully resourced and costed programs
  • Support post‑tender negotiations and project handovers
  • Monitor progress, report on milestones, KPIs and earned value
  • Identify risks and opportunities through proactive planning
  • Assist with contractual claims and delay analysis
  • Mentor and support project teams on planning best practice
  • Stay current with planning tools, systems and industry developments

About you

You will ideally have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ on‑site construction experience
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methodology
  • Solid knowledge of contract management and program analysis
  • Advanced programming skills across multiple planning software platforms
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Civil Engineering degree preferred, but not essential
