About The Role

BMD has an opportunity for a Sustainability Advisor to join our team. This role will play a hands‑on and influential part in embedding sustainability across project delivery, working closely with project leadership and key stakeholders to drive meaningful and measurable outcomes. Experience with ISC and having completed sustainability submissions will be highly regarded, positioning you well for future project opportunities within BMD’s growing portfolio.

 Key responsibilities

  • Implement and manage the project’s Sustainability Management Plan
  • Monitor, report and drive sustainability performance on site
  • Prepare sustainability documentation, tools and templates
  • Support delivery teams through training, workshops and toolbox talks
  • Provide advice on sustainability initiatives and best practice
  • Assist with ISC documentation and submissions where required
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to enhance outcomes

 

About you

You are an experienced sustainability professional with a solid foundation in infrastructure delivery and the confidence to operate with a high level of autonomy on project. You bring a practical, solutions‑focused approach and are comfortable supporting both current project requirements and future sustainability submissions.

  • Degree‑qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Approximately 3–5 years’ post‑graduate experience in sustainability roles within civil construction, infrastructure or a related sector
  • Demonstrated experience preparing or contributing to sustainability documentation and submissions, including ISC‑aligned deliverables
  • Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) experience highly regarded, with prior exposure to IS ratings (v2.1 desirable)
  • ISAP accreditation desirable or willingness to obtain
  • Proven ability to work independently while influencing project teams and stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate sustainability requirements into practical outcomes
  • A proactive, organised and adaptable mindset, with an interest in supporting future ISC submission requirements across upcoming projects
