About the role

BMD Constructions is seeking a capable and driven Project Engineer to join our team delivering the Darwin Shiplift project. Reporting to our Senior Project Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of marine scope of works, ensuring works are completed safely, on time and to a high standard.

You will work closely with the project team, clients and subcontractors to coordinate daily site operations and manage key marine interfaces. From a commercial perspective, you will assist with procurement, subcontract administration, cost tracking and reporting, while supporting progress claims and variations. This role will provide valuable exposure to contract management and end‑to‑end project delivery on a nationally significant marine infrastructure project.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of drawings, specifications and project requirements
  • Support the implementation of quality, safety and environmental management plans
  • Manage contract administration, including claims, variations and cost tracking
  • Prepare and review progress claims, valuations and reporting
  • Monitor project programmes and assist in maintaining delivery timelines
  • Coordinate subcontractor and supplier engagement, including procurement and agreements
  • Liaise with clients, superintendents and key stakeholders
  • Prepare correspondence relating to delays, variations and project updates
  • Support tender activities by assisting with documentation and project inputs
  • Monitor project performance and report on key issues to the Senior Project Engineer & Project Manager
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support the development of junior team members

 

About you

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience as a Project Engineer within construction or infrastructure, ideally with exposure to marine or structures works
  • Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial project delivery
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Sound leadership capability with a collaborative approach
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety and environmental standards
  • Ability to work full project hours - Site based role
