ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Tram to Springvale Alliance (TSA), made up of BMD Constructions, CPB Contractors and Arup, is delivering the Eastern Freeway Upgrades between Tram and Springvale roads. The works include new express lanes, upgraded noise walls, and revitalised areas of the Koonung Creek Linear Park.

THE ROLE

Build your career while you earn!  We’re offering a unique opportunity for a Safety Trainee, to join BMD/TSA and gain hands-on experience while studying towards a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or similar) - all while earning a competitive salary above award rates.

This is not a typical trainee role; you’ll be fairly compensated while building your future.

You’ll support the project’s Health and Safety team in delivering one of Victoria’s largest infrastructure projects. You’ll work alongside experienced safety professionals, gaining exposure to safety systems, compliance, and risk management in a live construction environment.

This role combines on-the-job training with formal study, setting you up for a long-term career in the construction industry.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Supporting the implementation of health and safety systems on site
• Assisting with safety inspections, audits and risk assessments
• Participating in site safety walks, toolbox talks and incident investigations
• Maintaining safety documentation, records and reporting systems
• Supporting compliance with legislative and project safety requirements
• Promoting a strong safety culture across the project team
• Learning key WHS processes within the construction industry

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

This is a traineeship position, to be eligible applicants must:

• Not have previously completed a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
• Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or NZ Citizen
