About the Role

BMD Constructions is seeking a proactive and motivated Safety Coordinator to join our team on the Palmer Wind Farm project. Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will play a key role in supporting project teams to deliver safe, compliant and high-quality outcomes on site. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience on a major renewable energy project, working closely with experienced construction professionals while contributing to a positive and proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support the implementation of safety, environmental and quality systems across site
  • Work closely with project and construction teams to provide guidance on safety requirements and best practices
  • Act as a key point of contact for safety, environmental and quality matters on site
  • Conduct site audits and inspections, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in analysing audit findings and implementing system improvements
  • Prepare reports and documentation for project teams and senior leadership
  • Support the delivery of safety training, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives
  • Assist in preparing work method statements, project plans, and inspection and test plans
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety systems and processes

The successful candidate will be a self‑starter with:

  • Experience or strong interest in safety, environmental or quality within construction or a related industry
  • Relevant qualification in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (or working towards)
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with site-based teams
  • Ability to build relationships and influence positive safety behaviours
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and work collaboratively
  • Understanding of safety legislation and compliance requirements (desirable)
  • Flexibility to work on site and travel as required
