What is the role?  

This is one of our newest services in Newport and is the home of individuals with Physical and Learning Disabilities. Our Support Workers work with these incredible individuals to support with day-to-day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support.

The service promotes the importance of the “do with and not do for” approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals.

The individuals we support have different personalities with different likes and hobbies. You could be joining the people we support in going out and about in the community and provide them with new life experiences. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first-hand how you make a difference to them.

As a Support Working doing waking night shifts you will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:

  • Medication administration
  • Supporting individuals' bedtime routines
  • Supporting with individual needs throughout the night
  • Personal care needs
  • Supporting individuals with moving and assisting 
  • Cleaning duties

 

What skills and experience do you need? 

A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs and learning disabilities is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.  More important are; 

  • A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible 
  • An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives 
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player

  • An hourly rate of £12.75 making the annual salary £ 24,531 (FTE)
