Where does this role fit in?

As an Asset Surveyor, you’ll gather and analyse property data to inform investment decisions, energy improvements, and ensure we meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS). Working within our strategic Asset Management team, you’ll support stock investment, disinvestment, and optimisation — including surveys, appraisals, design solutions, and remedial specs — helping us maximise the financial, social, and environmental value of our homes. You'll gain experience across large-scale property management, including stock condition surveys, data analysis, and Energy Performance Certificates, all while working with a team passionate about sustainability and community. Together, you’ll help shape the future of our housing stock and ensure every pound we spend brings real value — financially, socially, and environmentally.

What skills and experience do you need?

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in carrying out Stock Condition Surveys, ideally in social housing.
  • Is confident with property data and producing clear, useful reports.
  • Has excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Is a great team player – someone who works well with others and builds positive working relationships.
  • Holds a HNC/HND in Building Studies or Building Surveying, or has equivalent experience.
  • Has a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work travel.

If you're already a Domestic Energy Assessor, that's a bonus — but don’t worry if not, we can support you with training.

What are the pay and benefits? 

  • £ 40,991 for a 37 hour, Full time, permanent opportunity
  • Flexible working policies – we offer hybrid working. For this role, your base will be either Newport or Cardiff, depending on which is closest to where you live. You'll be regularly out and about in our East communities, with occasional travel to our offices in Newport, Cardiff or Swansea as required.
  • It is essential for the successful candidate to have a full drivers licence and access to a car
  • 26 days holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays , rising to 30 days with length of service
  • Mileage paid at 45 per mile
  • For this role you will require a basic DBS which we pay for.
