Where does the role fit in?

Our fantastic team provides a 24-hour temporary housing support in the Swansea area for young people aged between 16 and 21 years old.

At Cam Nesaf, we provide advice and guidance on training, education and employment. We also support young people to develop independent living skills to enable them to move onto independent sustainable accommodation. This an exciting time to join us with the development of our youth provision.

You will be working in a psychologically informed environment with an understanding of a trauma-informed approach to working with young people.

What skills and experience do you need?

To be a great Scheme Support Officer, you don’t always need previous experience or qualifications. This role requires flexibility along with enthusiasm, motivation and creativity. You need the ability to work on your own initiative in a busy and dynamic role as well as being a positive team player. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

A Scheme Support Officer is an exciting role that focusses on clients’ individual needs and aspirations. No two days will be the same.

You will act as a first point of contact for people we support. You will build positive relationships by helping them make a transition into independent living. You will provide advice with budgeting and money management, including welfare benefits, as well as support them in a practical way, with regards to day to day living skills.

Daily Duties Include:

  • To provide support and advice to tenants within the scheme both on a 1:1 basis and as part of group-based work.
  • Assist the Support Worker in the day to day running of the service.
  • Develop and run workshops for clients during evening and weekends, as appropriate.
  • Be the first point of contact for all telephone calls and visitors to the service and to deal effectively with queries.
