How can I make a difference?

Our supported living service in St Julians, Newport provides support for 5 individuals in their own flats.  This innovative service seeks new and exciting ways of supporting the individuals to attain new experiences.  Focusing on developing the individuals wellbeing and goal setting for the future.  This will be an opportunity to help them to explore more independent ways of living and gaining life skills whilst supporting them to create new and exciting opportunities for themselves.  

Duties will include:

  • Support with personal care – when required  
  • Medication administration  
  • Stock taking of medication and finances  
  • support with developing a community presence in  surroundings  
  • support with establishing a strong tenancy and establishing their own home 
  • support with physical and emotional wellbeing 
  • support to develop new daily living skills and promoting independence
  • support with accessing further education and work placements   

 

What skills and experience do you need?  

A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.  More important are; 

  • A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible 
  • An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives 
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player  
  • Ability to follow individuals care and support plans and specific procedures.
