Dyfrig House operates between Cardiff Central and Newport Road – As you will be required to work across these locations, a Full UK Drivers Licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
About the role
Working as part of a supportive team, you will provide tailored support to individuals experiencing homelessness who are seeking help to address alcohol and substance use challenges. Some of the people we support may also have experience of the criminal justice system.
Our customers actively engage with treatment and local recovery services, and your role will be to support them in developing independence, maintaining their tenancy, and making positive, lasting life changes.
Day-to-day duties
- Plan and deliver meaningful activities that promote life skills, including budgeting, health, and wellbeing
- Engage and interact positively with customers
- Work collaboratively with Project Workers to support customers in achieving their goals and aspirations
- Take responsibility for health and safety within the service and monitor the wellbeing of customers
Experience:
Relevant work experience is not essential for this role. We encourage you to demonstrate your values, positivity, passion, and motivation for working with vulnerable people in your application and at interview stage.
Skills & abilities:
- A passion for supporting and enabling people to live as independently as possible
- Strong initiative, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as a team player
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and respond effectively to challenging situations
- Basic IT and literacy skills, with the ability to use digital devices and complete records and reports to document support provided to individuals

Pay and Pensions
- Salary:£25,877.80 FTE
- Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift
- Pension Choices:
- Defined Contribution (DC) Scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Or,
- Defined Benefit (DB) 1/80th of final salary for every year of service.
