Department Overview: 

Vehicle Integration is the core of the Development Application phase. Vehicle Integration owns the DVP process and its tracker with their engineers.

Support testing procedures, testing know how, Vehicle fleet, Logistic and operation in proving ground circuits & public road around the world.

Job Purpose: 

The R&D Logistics manager is responsible for managing part, vehicle and personnel travel for the Aston Martin’s Research and Development department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

General

• Responsible for managing the Travel and Logistics through optimal use & deployment of human and financial resources.
• Responsible for skill and career progression of the team.
• Supporting the continuously improvement of processes.
• Responsible for rationalising cross-project location together with the VLMs
• Support programs drive events logistic.
• Support the vehicle testing plan according to operation efficiency.
• Respect of the program R&D Whole Vehicle Budget related to the Vehicle fleet logistic and travel (through the VLM).
• Manage general admin of Engineering.

Logistics

• Manage all vehicle transport and part logistics for Engineering. Support & manage vehicle transport and parts transport for other non-production functions inc. Marketing and Valkyrie aftersales. Including media launch support.
• Establish yourself as in-house Expert and ‘go to’ for logistics within non-production functions.
• Manage UPS small packages and freight for Gaydon and Wellesbourne. Approver for customs shipments and run training sessions for UPS shipping. AML Representative for monthly meetings with account executives.
• Manage ATA carnets. Manage the £18 million bond and its transition in- house bringing significant savings to the business.
• To include request and tracking of ATA carnets purchased from third party supplier. Circa 250 live carnets. 
• Customs representative for Engineering and key point of contact for AML customs team.
• Expert in parts logistics, import / export / customs requirements to support Vehicle testing globally. Establish the most logical and cost-effective strategies for parts movements to provide logistic solutions to test teams and all non-production functions
• Work with and influence key stakeholders within the business and support with logistics.
• Lead team of transport coordinators to ensure.
• Efficient annual spend across R&D and use of transport suppliers
• Tracking and completions of invoicing in AML systems
• Manage R&D parts & vehicle transport requests and execute plans accordingly

Travel

• Manage travel for Engineering teams.
• Establish strategies for efficient travel spend across the department
• With Procurement support, establish preferential rates with hotels at regularly used locations (e.g. proving grounds, large suppliers)

Experience and Qualifications

Essential experience in the Premium and Luxury Automotive Brands:

• Prototypes Vehicle and Parts Logistic and Team Travel.
• Driving license.
• Operational department experience.
• Cross-border logistics.

Desired Requirements:

• Transport Manager Certificate.
