At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains our highly talented and ambitious team are responsible for the design, manufacture, testing and racing of Formula 1 power units and are pioneering in Advanced Technologies, transferring F1 technologies and know-how into high performance automotive projects and products such as the Mercedes AMG Project One and the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX.

In 2024, we took action to address the underrepresentation of women in engineering by launching our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme. This initiative offered talented women engineers a unique opportunity to gain paid, one-year work experience, immersing them in diverse areas of engineering within Formula 1 and Advanced Technologies. Participants have the chance to collaborate with some of the world’s top engineers, gaining valuable skills and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

We are delighted to announce that we will run this programme again inviting the next cohort of 5 talented women engineers to join us in September 2025.

We are launching our application process today, with the programme commencing in September 2025.

The 12-month programme will offer:

• Full-time Work Experience in our Engineering facility
• A mentor assigned to each participant on the programme
• Women’s Engineering Society membership
• Skills workshops throughout the year
• Opportunity to join our HPP Women’s Network and Women in Engineering Project Team
• Competitive salary and excellent benefits, such as opportunity to join our car lease scheme and an onsite gym

Criteria:

• Our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme has been created for women who are studying for, or are in receipt of a 2:1 degree or above in an Engineering discipline, and are able to commit to a 1-year paid work experience starting September 2025
• Available to attend our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme Workshop on Friday 25^th April 2025
• An excellent understanding of engineering first principles
• Curious and tenacious individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Practical, “hands-on” experience to complement your academic studies
• Excellent communication skills
• Self-motivated, thorough engineers that are adaptable, creative, and innovative
• The courage to challenge and desire to be challenged, to expand your technical knowledge and skills

The Process:

• Submit your on-line application for a place on our 12-month programme, CV and covering letter
  • Within this we would like to learn as much about you as possible. Tell us about your hobbies and passions; related and unrelated to the scheme or degree you are studying as this will help you stand out against candidates that may have the same qualifications and grades as you.
  • Please remember to list the grades you have achieved against the respective qualifications, employment, and project experience.
  • Closing date for applications is Friday 4^th April 2025
• Your application will be screened by HR and our Engineering Leadership Team
• If shortlisted you will be invited to attend our Workshop & Assessment Day which will take place on Friday 25^th April 2025 at our factory in Brixworth, Northamptonshire. At our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme Workshop, you will gain insight into F1 & Advanced Technologies at HPP. Take part in activities such as speed networking, a tour of the factory, interactive practical group activities and hearing from inspiring role models.   We will provide further information regarding the structure of the day in invitations.
• We will facilitate an alternative Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme Workshop virtually for shortlisted applicants who are unable to attend the in-person workshop
• If successful, you will start in September 2025 

 

During your application process we are committed to providing additional support where it may be needed. We will reimburse up to £75 of your travel expenses to the interview. Please be reassured that using this reimbursement will not negatively affect the outcome of your application. If you need additional financial support to help attend our Workshop & Assessment Day, you can apply to be considered to receive our Interview Travel Bursary which will provide full reimbursement for any travel expenses incurred.
