About the Opportunity

The Business Operations Officer will work as part of the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor Aboriginal Leadership within the Aboriginal Engagement portfolio. This portfolio works to ensure the meaningful inclusion of Tasmanian Aboriginal people in the University’s decision making, leadership, research, and courses at all levels and in all disciplines. As the Business Operations Officer, you will:

  • Provide high level administrative support to the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal Leadership ensuring compliance with University administrative, financial, people, and work health and safety processes, including:

- Monitoring ongoing supplier transactions, work-related expenditure and business card reconciliation.

- Providing high-level support for portfolio recruitment, selection, appointment and other people processes.

- Coordinating work health and safety risk audits, hazard reporting and other WHS-related matters.

- Coordinate travel arrangements.

  • Support senior leaders of the portfolio with effective diary management, arranging meetings and responding to stakeholder enquiries.
  • Provide administrative support to projects, events, and the portfolio’s internet, intranet and websites.

What’s Required

  • The ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and a well-developed knowledge and understanding of contemporary Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander culture and society.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, including timelines and budgets.
  • High level written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to compile documents for diverse audiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with competing deadlines, and the capability to make sound decisions or elevate to higher levels as appropriate.
  • Experience in the provision of secretariat support to committees and working parties.
  • Completion of degree level qualification with extensive relevant experience, or extensive experience and specialist knowledge, or equivalent and relevant combination of training, education and experience.

What’s on Offer?

On offer is a full time, 1-year fixed term opportunity based in Hobart.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $113,029 comprising base salary within the range of $89,091 to $96,606 plus 17% superannuation.
