About the Portfolio
The Academic Division has a critical role in enabling and supporting learning and teaching success. The purpose of the Academic System will be to achieve transformative educational outcomes for students and communities, ensure that all courses are mission-aligned, design and performance optimized.
Seven critical elements will serve specific purposes in the System and include Courses, Capacity, Capability, Time, Governance, Management, and Technology and processes. The system will deliver mission aligned educational content, allowing us to accelerate the transition we need to make in Tasmania.
About the Opportunity
Collaborating closely with the DVC Academic Leadership Team to manage business operations and strategy, this role will play a key part in ensuring alignment with the University’s mission. Operating with a high level of autonomy, the position offers strategic advice to senior leadership on governance, financial management and process improvement, enabling the Academic Division to effectively enhance operational efficiency. Driving continuous improvement, the role will provide expert advice on streamlining processes and contribute to the achievement of key institutional objectives.
Additionally, the role will oversee compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements, lead financial and budget planning, manage external funding, and conduct research to inform executive decisions.
What’s Required
The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to navigate diverse operational challenges. Reporting directly to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) the Associate Director exercises sound judgment, management expertise, and high-level problem-solving skills while providing strategic guidance to divisional leadership and key stakeholders. Proven ability to lead budget planning and reporting for large, complex budgets within financial parameters and deep understanding of university governance, policy, and academic risk is essential to effectively delivering requirements of the role.
